Course Description
The course consists of a classroom lecture, examination, and hands-on training (5 hours) and a shooting range qualification (3 hours). During the classroom part of the training, students will learn about the moral and legal aspects of firearm use, safe handling, cleaning the firearm, fundamentals of shooting, drawing, holstering, and emergency situations. They will also cover the use of force, de-escalation, and take a written test to assess their knowledge. Moreover, students will use the SIRT laser-fired training pistols to practice the requirements for the firearm qualification portion of the course.
Once students have successfully completed the classroom and exam, they will move on to the shooting range and their qualification that weekend at United Sportsmen Inc. (USI). Here, they will receive hands-on instruction in firearm safety, handling, and shooting techniques, as well as shoot the BSIS qualification course under the guidance and watchful eye of our expert instructors.
